Hunt For Missing Sailor Is Called Off

A Massive hunt for a missing yachtsman was called off. Coasguards found his deserted boat drifting at sea. Father-of-four Bobby Jackson had gone out on a sailing trip to meet an old pal. But the alarm was raised when the popular barman failed to turn up and his empty yacht was spotted off the coast of Arbroath, Angus. Baffled coastguard teams found his yacht, the Anlatika, on Friday afternoon. After the search and rescue operation was launched, Mr Jackson's friends in Stonehaven, Kincardineshire, spoke of their despair. Simon Cruickshank, his boss at the Ship Inn pub, said: "Everyone's really shocked. No one can understand what's happened." Ben Bremner, of the Forth Coastguard, said: "It's a mysterious case. It could be that Mr Jackson was lowering the sails and was hit by the boom and thrown overboard but that's speculation." Mr Jackson's devastated family were last night anxiously waiting for news and were too upset to comment.
